DODSON, Mont. (NMB) – Despite the ongoing pandemic, the Phillips County 4-H livestock sale on Saturday saw stellar sales numbers.
MSU Extension Agent Marko Manoukian says 84 animals were sold for a gross total of $232,912.75.
37 steers went for an average of $3.36 a pound, 43 pigs went for an average of $5.85 a pound, and four lambs went for an average of $5.38.
22 of the animals were sold virtually through Frontier Livestock Sale, while the rest of the buyers were there in-person.
“We had great support from the banks and other businesses…the community supported it very well,” says Manoukian.
The modified 4-H sale was limited to buyers only for attendance, with the 4-H kids not on hand. Instead, prospective buyers were shown pictures and videos of the animals during the sale.
