Athletic Director Oberquel is “humbled” to enter HOF

Havre, MT – In July, Montana State University Northern Athletics announced their 2026 Hall of Fame class.

At the top of the list is current athletic director Christian Oberquel. Oberquel started his career at Northern as the athletic trainer and has served the school for two and half decades.

Christian sat down with NMB Sports and describe the emotions of being selected to this year’s Hall of Fame. “I think it’s very humbling. It means a lot. I’ve seen a lot, I’ve done a lot. It doesn’t seem like it’s been 25 years, the students keep you young they keep you going.”

“When you look back it’s been real enjoyable from the starting point and here I still am. The college, the administration, the community has been very good to me.”

This year’s class features six athletes and or staff members who left a lasting impact on Northern Lights and Skylights athletics.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Friday, September 4, and all inductees will be recognized during halftime of MSU-Northern football’s first home game against Montana Western on Saturday, September 5.
