HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A man arrested for fighting is now facing theft and forgery charges stemming from counterfeit $100 bills being passed around in the area. Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich says that Charles Rainingbird was arrested around 3 PM Thursday for disorderly conduct, along with Steven Stanley.
After an investigation, Havre Police identified Rainingbird as suspected of trying to use a fake $100 bill at a local business on Saturday, December 29th. Rainingbird was being held in the Hill County Detention Center as of Friday morning on a $1,855 bond on disorderly conduct, theft and forgery charges.
Matosich says it’s unclear if Rainingbird was the source of the counterfeit bills at this time. He says they have not received any more fake bills in the last few days.
