CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – The Blaine County Cruisers are hosting a free socially distanced car show this Saturday.
Club President Loren Skoyen says the event will begin at 11 AM at the Blaine County Fairgrounds.
“We’ll park the cars and distance apart, just so we can get a car show. We haven’t had one all year, anywhere. And the cruisers had to cancel their cruise, so we’ve got some guys out there that haven’t brought their cars out yet. So we just wanted to do that.”
At dark, the Club will be projecting the movie ‘Ford vs. Ferrari.’
“The Cruisers have their own projector and sound system, and we show it and have an FM modulator. So if you’ve got an FM radio in your car, you can just tune to a certain channel and it will just broadcast wireless over the radio in your car. And then we show it on the back of the grandstands, which is white. It’s pretty good… This would’ve been our 10 year reunion for our Cruisers if we had our cruise this year. A lot of people have never seen a drive-in or been able to come to a drive-in movie. When they come in, they are pretty wowed by the clarity and everything.”
Skoyen says the Blaine County Health Department was receptive to the idea of a socially distanced car show.
“They were really good with us. I just told them our COVID plan. We’ve got signs that say if you have a fever and all that, please don’t come. In this area, where a mask if you feel comfortable. And we’ll have hand sanitizer stations all over. And they were cool with that. And our social distancing, six feet.”
No food or drinks will be served, so those attending are asked to bring their own. Bathrooms will be open.
Although the event is free, the Club will be accepting free will donations.
