HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Although many things are different on the Hi-Line this Christmas season, there is one thing that hasn’t changed.
The Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, and the City of Havre are once again collaborating to collect Christmas trees to enhance fishing at Fresno Reservoir.
Fresno Chapter President Nate Molstad says despite Fresno Reservoir currently being at around 30 percent of full pool, there is still plenty of space to place trees.
“We’ll find some locations for them. Obviously, we’ve put them at different depth levels over the years. We’ve got shallow water structures set up, we’ve got deeper water structures. So we work with a biologist on figuring out the best locations. We kind of spread them throughout the Reservoir. We’ve done this for four years. We’ve got a pretty good spread now. So we are continuing to move them throughout the Reservoir. We’ll figure that out.”
Starting today and running through early January, you can drop off Christmas trees in a dedicated container in Memorial Park, near the 5th Avenue Softball Complex.
Trees will be distributed at various locations around the Reservoir this Spring.
