HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Two local republican legislators — Representative Ed Hill of Havre and Senator Russ Tempel of Chester — held a town hall meeting at the Hill County GOP headquarters in Havre on Saturday afternoon.
The two hour meeting allowed the public an opportunity to speak with lawmakers during the transmittal break, which comes halfway through the 90-day legislative session.
Local constituents spoke during the meeting about the need to improve local infrastructure, the future of energy production, gun rights and agricultural issues such as right-to-repair and country of origin labeling.
There was also some discussion about having Montana join a group of states looking to call for a Convention of States, which would allow states to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution limiting the power of the federal government. Hill County GOP Chair Andrew Brekke says a town hall meeting addressing this specific issue will be held later this year.
