HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte announced the signing of six bills into law on Wednesday.
Senate Bill 219, which made it through the legislature with bipartisan support, allows for call location data to be released to law enforcement in an emergency.
SB 237 voids potential penalties Northwestern Energy faces for being unwilling to help localities develop renewable energy projects. Nearly all Republicans supported the measure, while the vast majority of Democrats opposed it.
House Bill 206 revises education laws related to tuition and in-state treatment, and passed the legislature with near unanimous support.
HB 423 revises laws to provide for additional screening of newborn infants and was supported by both parties.
HB 478 was also supported by most legislators, and revises DUI laws so that breath analysis is included as a possible expenditure for the blood-draw warrant search processing account.
And HB 641, which allows for the use of human remains during search and rescue dog training, was also passed on a near unanimous basis.
