RAVALLI COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office reports that one person was killed in a climbing accident over the weekend near Sugarloaf Peak.
On the afternoon of May 8th, 55-year-old Bryan Louis Kercher was descending the mountain with a group of climbers. Kercher slipped and fell approximately 1,000 feet down a steep slope before striking a large boulder when climbing conditions turned severe due to dropping and increased wind.
The victim was recovered on May 9th with the assistance of a Two Bear Air helicopter and Search and Rescue volunteers.
