HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commission held their weekly business meeting on Thursday morning.
The Commission announced the selection of Morris Land Survey Company to complete the survey on the Milk River Levee in order to identify and verify encroachments.
Morris Land Survey Company was one of three parties to apply for the project following the Commission’s request for proposal last month.
A contract has yet to be completed. Commissioner Diane McLean says she hopes for the survey to be wrapped up by the end of the summer to allow them to move forward with the process of fixing the deficiencies of the levee.
Deficiencies need to be dealt with within the next 5-7 years at most to remain in compliance and prevent much of Havre from being in a floodplain, which would require costly flood insurance.
The Commission also announced that Kimberly Bolta has been hired as the Hill County Deputy Elections Administrator. Bolta began the full-time job on May 3rd.
Kaci Hipple previously held the position but resigned last month.
