COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – A 15-year-old Kalispell girl was killed after being struck by a minivan near Columbia Falls on Thursday evening.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that at 9:40 PM, a westbound Chevy Town and Country struck a westbound pedestrian head-on on Tamarack Lane.
The pedestrian landed in a ditch and was transported to Logan Hospital before succumbing to her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old woman from Whitefish, did not stop at the scene of the crash and was located by law enforcement.
Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash, and the woman was booked into jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide while under the influence.
The road was bare and dry at the time of the crash.
