HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A man given a suspended sentence in 2018 for aggravated burglary has been ordered to serve five years in prison after violating the terms of his probation.
Esequiel Pepe Velasquez, born in 1978, was sentenced on Monday in Hill County District Court by Judge Kaydee Snipes-Ruiz. He will receive credit for 225 days of time served.
Back in August 2018, Judge Daniel Boucher handed down a five year suspended sentence for Velasquez after he pleaded guilty to felony aggravated burglary.
At a court hearing on May 10th, Velasquez had his suspended sentence revoked when he admitted that he left his residence at a Billings Pre-Release Center in February 2020 and did not return.
Court documents allege that in August 2017, Velasquez kicked open a door at the Budget Inn in Havre and threw a man to the floor. The door chain lock was ripped off the frame and the victim bled as a result of the altercation,
In 2001 and 2002, Velasquez was convicted of Partner or Family Member Assault in Havre City Court.
