HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The RezQ Dogs Animal Shelter is hosting a multi-week spay/neuter clinic throughout the Fort Belknap Reservation.
In addition, free pet vaccines, including rabies, will be available.
RezQ Dogs co-founder Anita Wilke says they have the capacity to spay or neuter over 175 animals, and says that the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the need for this crucial service.
“Normally, we have at least one large spay/neuter event every year, which unfortunately had to be canceled last year due to COVID. And we were not sure if we could pull it off this year. This is going to be a huge benefit to the community. The more dogs we can spay and neuter, the less puppies are born, and the less stray dogs we have. It also cuts down on incidents and bites. Because dogs get into trouble when they are not spayed or neutered. Male dogs roam. It’s just going to make a huge difference.”
RezQ Dogs was supposed to move from their location in Dodson to the Havre area back in 2019, but that was slowed by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Wilke says the move is coming soon.
“We will be closer to where we do most of our business, and closer to the veterinarian’s we work with. We will still be providing the same services for Fort Belknap. We will be working closely with the Havre Animal Shelter and Friends of the Havre Animal Shelter. We have a great relationship with them, and I’m looking forward to working with them even more.”

The clinic schedule is as follows:
- July 19th-21st from 9 AM-4 PM in Hays at the Mission Rec Center
- July 22nd and 23rd from 9 AM-4 PM in Lodgepole at the Enemy Killer Center
- July 26th-28th from 9 AM-4 PM at the Fort Belknap Agency Bingo Hall
- July 29th from 9 AM-Noon in Dodson at the Wath a tau Center (Vaccinations only)

Vaccinations are available on a walk-in basis.
