Lewistown Man Dies from Injuries in Crash

FERGUS COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – A Lewistown man has died after suffering injuries in a single vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 5:35 PM at mile marker 15 of Highway 426, when the victim failed to negotiate a curve while driving a westbound GMC 3/4 Ton pickup.

The vehicle instead continued going straight and began to go off the right side of the road. The driver steered hard to the left in an attempt to regain the roadway and began sliding on the passenger side. The vehicle slid off the road, overturned and rolled. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Joshua DeBelly, 42. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Alcohol, drugs and excessive speed are all suspected factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
