Arson Ruled Out as Cause of Deadly House Fire

COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – The Flathead Beacon reports that the deadly house fire in Columbia Falls on November 14th that left two men dead was not caused by arson or other criminal activity.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities now suspect it may have been started by a wood stove that was close to flammable objects.

Witnesses state that they heard an explosion and then saw the home fully engulfed in flames.

The names of the deceased have not been released, and authorities are awaiting on results from the Montana State Crime Lab.
