Montana COVID Case Surge Continues

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) –The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services reported 1,831 new COVID-19 cases in their Wednesday morning update as the Omicron variant continues to impact the state.

Gallatin County reported 503 new COVID cases, followed by Yellowstone with 359, Missoula with 227, 100 in Lewis and Clark, 83 in Cascade, and 79 in Flathead.

The Montana Medical Association led a press call on the status of COVID in the state on Tuesday, with officials saying new cases are up over 130 percent from last week, hospitalizations are up around 17 percent, and the vast majority of cases appear to be the Omicron variant.

The active case count in the state is up over 9,600, with 172 active hospitalizations.
