This Saturday the Air Fair returns to the Havre Airport from 7 to noon. Tony Dolphay, one of the organizers, says this event is special to Havre and the Hi-Line because it brings awareness of the airport to the community and connects them to the airport’s history. He says there are still people that don’t know the airstrip exists
“A lot of people ask some questions about some of the buildings and stuff up here. We have a few who usual ask about some of the history of like our big hangar. Just about any of our pilots up here can either answer those questions or send them to me. They know I know the History of it.”
Dolphay says the first Air Show that he knows of goes all the way back to 1941.
“The first air fair that I know of was in June of 1941, which I have pictures of. I don’t know if they continued that every year, or not. We’ve tried to continue it as long as I’ve been around the airport, except for some of our COVID years, of course.”
Saturday’s Air Fair will kick off with an all you can eat breakfast from 7 to 11. Cost is $10 person 6 and older. There will be tours of the hangars if it happens to rain but the entire event will not be canceled.
