YELLOWSTONE COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Highway Patrol reports that two young children were killed and two teenagers were injured on Friday north of Billings when an ATV collided with a sedan.
The incident occurred at 2:51 PM on Hofferber Road, when a 2019 Kawasaki ATV being driven by a 13-year-old girl from Shepherd was headed northbound with two 5-year-old children aboard. A 2018 Subaru Legacy was being driven westbound by an 18-year-old female from Shepherd on Shepherd Acton Road.
The ATV pulled in front of the Subaru and crashed into its passenger side. The ATV landed in an irrigation ditch, the Subaru landed on the road.
The two 5-year-olds, a boy and girl from Shephard, were pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the ATV was transported to a local hospital, while the driver of the Subaru was injured but not hospitalized.
The road was bare and dry.
