CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – The P.A.W.S. (Pets Are Worth Saving) of Chinook Animal Shelter is continuing to provide an essential service on the Hi-Line despite numerous challenges.
Shelter Manager Alissa Hewitt says they have been consistently over capacity as of late.
“We kind of blame it on COVID. Because a lot of spay/neuter clinics were not able to be completed last year. That adds to a lot of litters that didn’t have to be out and about.”
P.A.W.S. is working to mitigate this issue by holding spay/neuter clinics this summer. A clinic was held in Fort Belknap last weekend, and there will be one in Harlem in July and another in Fort Belknap in August.
