YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK (NMB) – The National Park Service says a 71-year-old woman from West Chester, Pennsylvania, was gored by a bull bison near Storm Point at Yellowstone Lake on June 29th.
The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Wyoming.
This is the third reported bison and visitor incident in 2022, and the second this week. The previous day, a man was gored after approaching a bison near a boardwalk at Giant Geyser.
The latest incident occurred when the victim and her daughter inadvertently approached the bison as they were returning to their vehicle at the trailhead, causing the bull bison to charge.
The incident remains under investigation, and no further details have been released.
People must keep at least 25 yards of distance from bison at Yellowstone National Park.
