FCS football coaches around the nation voted the Montana Grizzlies as the second best team in the country, according to the American Football Coaches Association preseason top-25.
The Griz received 567 total points, trailing only to North Dakota State who was ranked as the number one team in the country, with a total of 624 points.
They were also the highest ranked team in the Big Sky Conference, beating out South Dakota State by a single point.
The top five ranked teams, according to coaches, were:
-North Dakota State in first with 624 points
-The University of Montana in second with 567 points
-South Dakota State was third, scoring 566 points
-In fourth, Montana State with 560 points
-And Villanova placed fifth with 493 points
The Grizzlies open their season on September 3rd, at home against Northwestern State.
