The MSU-Northern rodeo team has their first rodeo of the season today, Friday September 9th, hosted by Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyoming.
The team just recently started practicing, and Head Coach Doug Kallenberger says they are focusing on the fundamentals.
“We’re just working on the fundamentals. We’ve had practice for over two weeks now, so we are working on the basics and fundamentals, making sure we are roping the dummy and doing things correct, so that’s kind of what we’ve been working on.”
With five rodeos in the fall, and five in the spring, Coach Kallenberger told us what he is telling his athletes to focus on.
“The biggest expectation right now is just be consistent. We’ve got five rodeos here in the fall, another five in the spring, and it’s just be consistent. We’re gonna ride every horse we draw and the chips will fall where they fall,” says Kallenberger.
The team will be back at it on Saturday night, for their second rodeo of the season.
