The Montana State University – Northern Men’s and Women’s Rodeo team opened up their seasons this past weekend at the Northwest College Rodeo, and they had tremendous results. The first rodeo saw Georgia Orahood and Taylissa Lytle share the win in breakaway roping. Rope Three Irons and Hence Three Irons finished 2nd in Team Roping, and Garrett Cunningham finished 2nd in Saddle Bronc Riding. Jill Marcenko finished third in the team roping and Brittany Cox placed third in the Barrel Racing. Both the Skylights and Lights finished second in the team competition of rodeo number one. The second rodeo of the weekend saw Garrett Cunningham claim the title in Saddle Bronc Riding while Brittney Cox placed 3rd in barrel racing. Jill Marcenko split 3rd and 4th in breakaway roping and in Goat Tying Georgia Orahood split 3rd and 4th. The cowboys and cowgirls of MSU-Northern are next at the Dawson Community College Rodeo in Glendive this weekend.
