There has been a significant shift in food consumption trends in America. According to the Organic Trade Association people are buying more organic food than ever, and that change isn’t going unnoticed in Havre.
Joe Malisani the manager at Gary and Leos IGA has been in the grocery business for 12 years and in that time, he says they’ve increased their organic products by 50 percent.
“So, I’d say we’ve had at least a 50 percent gain in the organic industry.”-Joe Malisani
Joe even shared a specific example of the change in grocery products.
“The big one that comes to mind is Kraft Singles. We used to buy pallets and pallets of Kraft Singles in the summer. They were the hit, go on every hamburger or grilled cheese across town. It’s tough to get rid of those now. People have the information and they’re making different choices based upon their health.”-Joe Malisani
