Coach Chad Jones and the Chinook Boys Basketball Team are showing a lot of improvement after an (0-5) start to the season. The Sugarbeeters, after falling to CJI Tuesday Night (58-32), were 0-5 as their season was starting to slip away. Chinook did not give up and has now won two games in a row.
Friday night, the Boys traveled to Harlem and came away with a (56-47) victory on the road. Brenden Fetter scored 28pts to lead the team to their first win of the season. Flint Annis (14pts) and Carson Nissen (7pts) also had good performances to get the win in a hostile Harlem environment.
With not much time to reflect, the Boys were back in action that Saturday Night against a then 1-loss Turner Tornadoes team at home in Chinook. The Sugarbeeters were down by as much as seven late in the 3rd quarter, before storming back for a (53-45) come from behind victory. Brenden Fetter (19pts) once again lead the way for the Sugarbeeters. Jackson Nordboe (12pts) was the 2nd leading scorer to go along with key rebounding down the stretch.
Head Coach Chad Jones when talking about his team told New Media Broadcasters “We had not put together a complete game offensively and defensively until now. This team is athletic, and has put together good offensive or defensive performances, but not together.” That all changed, especially Saturday against Turner, when the Sugarbeeters had to play well offensively and defensively to end up outscoring Turner by 15 points to come back from the seven-point deficit for the eight-point victory.
The Sugarbeeters now sit at (2-5) on the season with a (1-3) conference record.
