The Havre Blue Ponies Boys Basketball Team are one win away from a trip to the Class “A” State Basketball Tournament.
The boys placed 4th in the North Eastern “A” Divisional tournament after losing to Billings Central for 3rd place (55-48).
After a long road trip and 4 games played 3 days, here’s what Head Coach Walynn Burgess had to say about his teams performance and expectations in the upcoming game:
“For the kids to fight through a little adversity losing the first game to B.C. like we did, to come back and win two games to get yourself to a chance to play at state. I look at it as an opportunity for us to prove that we belong there.” – Burgess
The Blue Ponies will play Columbia Falls out of the North West in a play in game. When asked about the matchup Coach Burgess said it was very even:
“It’s going to be a great game, across the board the teams are very comparable. They played out there in Browning’s conference, they won one and lost one. And the funny thing is they lost in an overtime game in Browning just like we did.” – Burgess
The Blue Ponies and Columbia Falls are set to play Saturday March 4th, 2:30PM in Butte at the Civic Center.
Coach Burgess said “We need as many fans as possible to show up”
