(NMB) The Havre Blue Pony softball team was in Billings on Saturday afternoon for a pair of games against Hardin and Lockwood and went 1 and 1 on the day. In game one the Pones fell behind 9 to 2 early. Havre scored two runs in the 6th and 7th inning but it was too little too late, falling by a final score of 9 to 6. Elle Verploegen went the distance in the Circle for Havre allowing nine runs on seven hits while striking out five Hardin hitters. Offensively Jersi Morse was 2 for 4 in the game and Camille Keeley hit her second home run of the season.
In game two Havre scored two runs in the first inning, 6 runs in the 3rd inning and cruised to a 18 to 5 victory over Lockwood. Rachel Jette picked up the win allowing 5 hits and striking out 3. Avery Carlson, Molly Huse, Camille Keeley and Kamree Oliver all had three hits.
Head Coach Tony Vigliotti talked about getting the split on the road.
“Overall, pretty happy. Long day down and back to Billings. That first game our bats just never got going. It took us about six innings to get our bats going. Hat’s off to Hardin’s Pitcher, she threw a pretty good game against us in game one. Game two our bats got going, our pitcher threw strikes, our defense made plays. We played extremely well in game two. We’ll get back at it against Miles City.“-Vigliotti
The Ponies will be at Home For a pair of conference games against Miles City Monday Afternoon. First Pitch is scheduled for 2pm.
