(Great Falls) – In their weekly weather outlook for the next seven days issued on Friday, the National Weather Service is projecting flooding to continue for an extended period of time and snow to return in our area on Wednesday.
The National Weather service says Flood Highlights will continue until further notice for some rivers and creeks in the Havre and Harlem areas. The melting of the snow, combined with recent precipitation will allow for flooding to continue over portions of North Central Montana. There is still about four to six inches of water equivalent snowpack to melt in the Bear Paw Mountains, and the Cypress Hills in Southern Canada. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service continues the flooding on the Milk River near Harlem through all of next week.
The NWS also says periods of snow are expected to begin on Tuesday over Southwest Montana and then spread northward into North Central Montana by Wednesday. The National Weather Service predicts the snowfall will be a wet and heavy snow which could result in power outages, tree damage, and make travel difficult at times.
