The Havre Boys & Girls Blue Pony Track & Field Team is coming off a dominant performance over the weekend at the Cal Wearley Memorial Meet. Both Havre Teams came away in first place with the Boys scoring 123 points and the Girls scoring 145 points.
With multiple great performances, there were many Blue Ponies who qualified for the State Meet. Freshman Ariana Gary, Kyanna Jarvis, Brayden Kimberland, Caleb Tomac, and Macee May have all qualified for the State Meet. When asked if the dominant effort surprised her, Head Coach Kari Filius was admittedly a little surprised and very proud of how many of her players earned a state berth with their performances.
“It was really good, both the boy’s and girl’s relay teams dominated. We had a few more people qualify for state in our second track meet. Like our freshman Ariana Gary last week, she went 4.6 in high jump and this week she went 5 feet, so that impressed me. Kyanna Jarvis went 5.2 in high jump, and this is her first high jump this year. Brayden Kimberland also qualified for state in the 100-meter dash, Caleb Tomac in the 2 mile, and Macee May who has never long jumped, made it in her first year. Those are the first in my mind, but everyone did really well.” – Filius
Congratulations to all of the Blue Ponies who qualified for state, Havre Track & Field will be back in action in Laurel Saturday April 22nd.
