(Helena) – The Montana Department of Agriculture confirmed on August 8th that there were two confirmed sites in Western Montana with Garden Loosestrife.
Garden Loosestrife is an aggressive non-native wetland weed that that is invasive and problematic in several other states such as Oregon and Washington. The plant is a 3 to 6 foot tall forb with whorled leaves in groups of three to five that are 3 to 5 inches long and forms dense stands along water ways in riparian areas. the plant has yellow flowers with 5 petals that appear in clusters at stem ends toward the top of the plant.
