(Lander, Wyo) — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced more than $10.5 million in fiscal year 2024 funds to support 59 strategic projects in Western states focused on habitat restoration and on-the-ground science including Montana.
Montana will receive $150,000 for the Ventenata Occurrence and Treatment in Sage-Grouse Core and Growth areas on Lands Encompassed by the Crow Reservation. This project will work with the Crow Tribal Council and Bureau of Indian Affairs to strategically treat large infestations of ventenata in coordination with private landowners. Treatment sites will include areas with cultural importance, greater sage-grouse habitat and elk locations, prairie dog colonies and important land management areas.
