The Havre High cross country team competed in another crowded running field on Thursday, this time in Helena at the “7-of-7” competition. This style was a little different than one the Blue Ponies have run so far this season.
Rather than the boys running together and the girls running together, each school was matched up into seven different races based on individual performance and scores were calculated based on finishing position. Here are some notable results:
The boys finished 22nd out of 52 schools with a total score of 175. Caleb Tomac was the fastest Blue Pony overall, finishing seventh in the seventh race while running a 15:59:33 5K. Mason Gregoire was the second-fasted finisher for Havre, clocking in at 17:38:11 and placing 14th in the fifth race. Zack May ran an 18:14:73 5K in the sixth race.
The girls finished 14th out of 48 schools with a total score of 120. Ashlyn Ford ran a 19:24:35 5K and was eighth overall in the seventh race. Hailey Gingery ran a 20:59:69 5K and finished tenth in the sixth race. Paige Anderson rounded out the top-3 with a 22:24:02 5K in the sixth race.
The Blue Ponies will run in the Malta Invite on Saturday, their last meet of the regular season.
