(Havre) – The Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame has chosen Clarence Basil Cuts the Rope of Hays as a legacy inductee. KellyAnne Terry the vice President of the Cowboy Hall of Fame talks about why Cuts the Rope was chosen to be inducted.
“Our mission statement talks about honoring the cowboy state of life and the American Indian cultures and stuff and he really felt that what he wanted to depict in his art was the real Indians, the wildlife of the prairie and a history of those who lived there. I think that it was important to him to capture that culture and capture that lifestyle and not only was he living it, but it was a part of his past and his children’s present and that I think was one of the main reasons that he is being honored in this was. It’s just that wonderful natural talent to gather and put on canvas the look of that side of Montana and what that looks like. you know just being able to depict that and put that down in perpetuity for many generations to come.”
She also talks about what inductees to the hall of fame are awarded.
“He is a legacy inductee, and his family will receive a plaque but then the honor goes into the Charlie Russell Museum, there’s a section of the museum that honors the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame. There’s people and we’ve got some horses in there, and ranches in there and different things and you’ll be able to read the bios. We have a section in there and it’s a wonderful honor for them to continue to be a part of that western way of life that we are trying to promote and remember and were thank full to the Charlie Russell for allowing us to partner with them in this way.”
