(Glasgow) – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will host a series of virtual and in-person public meetings around the state to present proposed hunting regulations for 2024/2025 hunting seasons. Scott Thompson the Manager for FWP Region 6 talks about the meetings.
“So, every 2 years Fish, Wildlife, and Parks proposes any adjustments to the next two years hunting season regulation, and this is typically the result of either changing wildlife resources or disease or potentially public opportunities that can be improved. So, we’re looking to post a series of meetings across the state in the coming weeks to explain the proposed changes that will be decided on by our fish and wildlife commission.”
He goes on to talk about some of the changes that have been proposed.
“There’s a few that are statewide, so it affects all areas of Montana and there fairly simple things like adding a moose and mountain goat archery only season, and adjustment to how mountain lion quotas are allocated to hunters and a few other things. Then there’s regional proposals, in region 6 we have a few some of those are to expand so of the older hunting opportunities in areas where we have chronic wasting disease and in other areas like in the Missouri river break in region 6 is to eliminate the elk shoulder season and then we have a couple mountain lion district changes that were proposed.”
