The Chinook Sugarbeeters boys’ basketball team (0-1) is at the Coyote Classic in Shelby this weekend. New Media Broadcasters talked with head coach Bill Bell, who said what the team has been working on in practices this week to prepare for the showcase.
“We talked a lot about communication, help defense, and also about boxing out,” Bell said. “(The opponent’s) boxing us out; we can’t stay boxed out. We did a lot to address that and I think the boys went about it with some bumps and bruises (during practice this week).”
The Beeters will close out the Shelby tournament playing the hosts. Bell said what makes the Coyotes so prolific.
“I do know that traditionally, Eureka is a good school up and down,” Bell said. “We’re just going to prepare and make our game plan and hopefully we dictate offense and defense. That is our goal going forward no matter who is in front of us.”
“We’re just trying to prepare by making sure that we’re running the offense and communicating a lot more on the floor,” Bell said. “That will bring us success a lot more than what we did against Choteau.”
The schedule for the Chinook boys’ basketball team is versus Eureka (Lincoln County) around 10:30am on Friday, followed by a Saturday night tilt with Shelby around 7:30. Listen to the Shelby game exclusively on KRYK 101.3 FM.
