(Havre) The National Institute of Health recently reported that treatment for addiction, specifically for adolescent individuals, is costly and scarce across the United States.
Closer to home, New Media Broadcasters spoke with Katleen Parsons, Licenses Addictions Counselor with the Bear Paw Recovery Center, to ask if the NIH’s report rang true in Havre.
“I think a lot of it probably does have to do with the funding. Folks not having access to insurance these days a lot of people do rely on medicaid and medicare. If you don’t have access to insurance and you can’t get medicaid how do you pay for these services?” She said. “The state isn’t funding as much anymore either, so I do believe it comes down to a lack of funding and lack of support for the services from the state”
