2024 Hi-Line Basketball Invitational – Day 1 Results

The first session of the 2024 Hi-Line Invitational got underway from the Armory Gym in Havre on Thursday night. The two games featured were a double-header between the assembled Class ‘A’ and Class ‘C’ teams.

The girls got the tournament underway and Class A won, (62-48). The game was competitive with eight ties and seven lead changes, but Class A was able to pull away a double-digit lead for most of the contest.

Havre’s Ariana Gary led all scorers with 17 points, while Bigfork’s Braden Gunlock was the other double-digit bucket getter for Class A with 10 points. The other Blue Pony in this event, Amaya Jarvis, put in 7 points and also grabbed a team-high 10 boards.

For Class C, Big Sandy’s Eva Yeadon did not score. After facing off in the State Class ‘C’ girls’ championship game, North Country’s Teagan Erickson and Roy-Winifred’s Isabelle Heggem combined for 24 points and 12 rebounds in a losing effort.

The boys took their turn and it was a dominating performance for Class C, claiming a (106-75) victory. Seven of the 10 players in Class C were in double-figures, led by Manhattan Christian’s Christian Triemstra’s 18. For Class A, Havre’s Tre Gary put in 9 points, while Matt Huse had two free throws. Frenchtown’s Eli Quinn was the leading scorer for Class A with 16 points.

The Class ‘C’ teams will turn around and play Friday at 8am and 9:30am against Class ‘B’, while Class ‘A’ will follow starting around 11am with a double-header against Class ‘AA’ and then Class ‘B’.
