The Havre High School tennis teams honored seven seniors on the first day of its Havre Invite, which took place on Friday. The teams squared off against East Helena and here are some notable results:
The Havre boys’ doubles teams continued to roll early on with a sweep that was led by senior Carter Spangler and his sophomore brother Max (8-1), senior Mason Kinsella and Carter Chagnon (8-0), and senior Reid Katon with Callen Stoner, (8-1). Senior Jackson Headdress was a singles winner in a tiebreak, (8-6).
The Havre girls struggled a little more on this day, getting just one singles win from Loise Evangelista (8-5) and one doubles victory from the team of Heather Herring and Alera Chandler (8-3).
The day was also a chance for players to compete with less pressure as the teams traded exhibition doubles matches. The Blue Pony girls performed much better, winning four times out of six, while the Blue Pony boys got wins in four of the five matches played.
Since there was second day of the Havre Invite due to the weather, the Blue Ponies will travel to Cut Bank for the second time this season to compete in the Cut Bank “A” Invite, which is scheduled on Friday and Saturday.
