(Havre) Havre Public Works issued the following statement on April 19th: In an abundance of caution beyond the increased chlorination disinfection and flushing of water mains, Montana Department of Environmental Quality has issued a boil water advisory for the public water supply as an additional precaution to public safety in the City of Havre.
The CDC says that a boil water advisory means that users SHOULD boil tap water for at least one minute prior to use or use bottled water for consumption. This is different from a boil water order, which states that users MUST boil water prior to use.
The Montana DEQ says the City of Havre is likely to be on a Boil Water Advisory for the next 15 to 30 days, dependent on daily monitoring of chlorine residuals in the water system.
