(Havre) As previously reported by new media broadcasters, the City of Havre was under a Drinking Water Health Advisory. That has been updated to what is now a Boil Water Advisory. The previous Health Advisory is no longer in effect.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Trevor Mork, Director of Havre Public Works, for more information.
“In an abundance of caution beyond the increased chlorination disinfection and flushing of water mains, Montana DEQ has issued a boil water advisory for the public water supply as an additional precaution to public safety for the City of Havre. By definition provided by the CDC on drinking water, a boil water advisory states that users should boil tap water for at least one minute or use bottled water for consumption due to a potential increased risk of infection. A boil water order states that users must boil water prior to use for at least one minute or use bottled water due to a known increased risk of infection.”
It’s worth noting that a boil water advisory is done when the disinfectant capability of the water is in any type of doubt. A water boil order means that there’s a known infectant in the water supply that will get you sick if you drink it without boiling first. What Havre has is a Water Boil Advisory.
Those that want more information are encouraged to call Havre Public Works.
