(Lewistown) Lewistown’s Crowley Block was recently approved for Historic Preservation Tax Credits, something those involved are calling a win for affordable housing.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Lindsay Tran, Historic Architecture Specialist with the State Historic Preservation Office, to ask about the block’s historical importance.
“So the Crowley Block is what we call a contributing building to the district, that means that it’s history and it’s appearance relay its historic importance to the community and the appearance reflects what it looked like when it became historically important. It is a contributing building to the Lewistown Central Business Historic District. That district is listed in the national register of historic places as a place of historic significance in Lewistown Montana.”
The organization Homeword has plans to turn the upper floors of the building to into what they’re calling “affordable rental homes”, stay tuned for that story.
