Havre Softball Shuts Out Glasgow

On Thursday, Havre softball team met its only non-conference foe of the week when the squad traveled to Glasgow to take on the Scotties. The Blue Ponies came out with a victory, (10-0).

The affair was dominated by Blue Ponies left fielder Brenna Hanson, who drove in four runs on three hits, which included a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Havre ended up scoring seven time in the frame after taking a (1-0) lead in the second inning on shortstop Adi Olson’s RBI single. Catcher Camille Keeley also had three base knocks and two RBIs.

The 10 Havre runs were scored on 13 hits. The most important stat that coach Tony Vigliotti will take away is that his Blue Ponies recorded no errors in the field.

In the circle, Elle Verploegen cruised, throwing a four-hit complete game shutout and striking out 11 Scotties batters. Out of the 109 pitches she tossed, 73 were for strikes. Her overall record in 2024 is (8-3).

Two more games await Havre softball (9-6) this week and they will both be at home: Friday against Sidney with a 5pm first pitch and Saturday against Glendive with a 3pm first pitch on senior day. Should the Ponies win both games, they would be the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Eastern ‘A’ Divisional Tournament.
