Havre Football Youth Camp Gets Going Ahead of Fall Practices

The Havre High School football team has wrapped up its high school camp and is on to the next one. New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Jake Eldridge about the youth camp that is coming up next week and why kids should come out to support the Havre football team.

“We’ve got a K through 4 session that we do in the morning,” Eldridge said. “We’re going to get the little guys together and they’re going to be doing a lot of fundamentals with passing and catching and running the ball and then defensive skills like how to tackle.”

“Then we break off (into) our afternoon session into more of our middle school youth aged kids,” Eldridge continued. “We (will) actually get into some very specific drills and schemes when it comes to offense and defense.”

Eldridge then went on to say what his team has been doing to get ready for the 2024 season. With kickoff just about one month away, he emphasized the importance of being a cohesive unit, bonding together whether it is in the weight room or out on the practice field.

“We’ve been in the weight room at 6 o’clock in the morning and (the players are) getting bigger, faster, (and) stronger and putting in a lot of work,” Eldridge said. “It’s really good for us to be on the field right before we kick off fall camp where we can get another chance to go through and focus on us as a high school team.”

“It’s been a great summer, but it’s winding down here and football will be right around the corner,” Eldridge continued.”

The Havre Youth Football Camp starts at the Havre High football practice field on Monday and runs through Tuesday. Grades K-4 will be from 9-11am and grades 5-8 will go from 2-4pm.
