Havre Border Patrol to install Jersey barriers on Border Road near Sweetgrass Border Station.

(Havre) The Havre Border Patrol is announcing a partnership between the US Border Patrol Infrastructure Program and the International Boundary Commission to secure the Sweetgrass Border Patrol Station.

The Havre Border Patrol says that part of its initiative involves the placement of sand filled jersey barriers, which are the orange and white modular walls often seen near construction sites.

The purpose for these is to quote “reduce the frequency of inadvertent border crossings, which currently occupy a significant portion of [their] agents time” end quote, according to Chief Patrol Agent Andrew K Scharnweber.

This announcement comes just over a week after Montana Representative Matt Rosendale’s letter to the Sweetgrass Station expressing concern over discussions about placing temporary vehicle barriers on Border Road.
