Rodeo clown Flint Rasmussen is being inducted into the National Rodeo Hall of Fame, the organization announced on Tuesday. Rasmussen has a connection to the city of Havre, having started out as a history teacher for Havre High, coming up north from Choteau in the early 1990s. He was also the public address announcer for MSU-Northern Lights and Skylights games.
He knew that his passion was in rodeo. He knew that he was funny. Knowing full well that teaching would still be an option should his dream not work out full-time, Rasmussen joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) in 1994. Since then, Rasmussen has flourished in the spotlight, putting a smile onto the faces of folks young and old
Taking that leap of faith provided the adrenaline rush of a lifetime for Rasmussen, who is now in his third decade affiliated with rodeo. His most recent accomplishments include transitioning to full-time Proffessional Bull Riders (PBR) commentating work for CBS and Merit Street Media. He has hosted his own podcast about rodeo and has been a host at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) as well as on “Wild Rides” TV.
Numbers that come to mind for his achievements are:
26, the number of times he was featured in the PBR World Finals,
17, the number of years he was the official entertainer for PBR,
eight, the number of times he was the PRCA Clown of the Year.
Rasmussen will officially take his place in rodeo lore when he is inducted at the National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City as part of a two-day ceremony from Nov. 8-9.
