Havre Board of Commissioners Business Meeting – 8/22/2024

(Havre) The Hill County Board of Commissioners met for their weekly business meeting on August 22nd for what became a 2 hour long meeting with the lions share of the time being dedicated to discussing proposed changes to county employee wages.

Before that discussion, the commissioners affirmed their active participation in the Bear Paw Economic Development District, pledging $21,000. Jake Strissel abstained from voting due to a conflict of interest.

County employee wages came up for discussion at the end of the meeting, as a proposal was brought in by Lexis Dockter which would raise the starting pay for some county employee positions, and in turn bring any employees working that position to that same level, but after the in depth discussion the motion for approval was not passed and the matter was effectively tabled.

Commissioner Jake Strissel asked that the county employee wage package be sent to all department heads so they could comment on the document if needed, and the matter will be revisited during next weeks business meeting.
