(Havre) During the most recent city council meeting, a public commenter mentioned to City of Havre Public Works Director their concerns around the City’s lack of building inspector. We spoke with Havre Public Works Director Trevor Mork.
“Currently the City of Havre does not have a building inspector to do building code inspections such as roofing and new construction. Currently, the City of Havre public works building program is decertified by the state of Montana as we do not have a building inspector on staff. In addition to that, the state does not do residential roofing permitting”
The City can still issue permits on things that fall under ordinance like fences, driveways, and sidewalks. Mork says that the city is hiring for a certified inspector, but in the meantime they are exploring alternative solutions.
