Blue Pony volleyball is coming off of what the team called a “thrilling and heartbreaking loss” down in Miles City this past Friday night. New Media Broadcasters discussed the outcome with Havre head coach Cassie Krueger, who said her team fought until the end, but gave credit where credit is due to the opponent.
“(My players) fought very hard,” Krueger said. “Miles City brought an electric atmosphere to their senior night and they definitely had some home court advantage.”
“But, my girls fought very hard,” Krueger continued. “In the fifth set, we just couldn’t close it out, but I’m very proud of how hard they fought.”
“I’m very proud of how hard the entire program fought (on Friday night),” Krueger said. “Miles City has definitely stepped up their game in the last couple of weeks and you just have to respect that.”
It’s now time to shift to postseason volleyball for the rest of the state of Montana. The Blue Ponies will be at Divisionals this week playing the Lockwood Lions and coach Krueger gave an outlook as to what she expects from her team for what she hopes is a three-day run.
“It’ll just be all us,” Krueger said. “Our eyes can only be on the six players on our side of the court.”
“They just need to work together as a team and come out swinging really hard and keep that fight through the entire matches,” Krueger continued. “I think our biggest key is just keep being consistent, keeping that energy and keeping the fight all the way to the end.”
“That should, in theory, bring us all the way to state, and that’s what my girls are going for,” Krueger said. “That’s their big goal and we’re going to be fighting really hard this weekend to make the Blue Pony Nation proud.”
Havre and Lockwood will square off in the first match of the day on Thursday at 9am at Fergus High’s gym. New Media Broadcasters will report scores once they come in.
