Lights Basketball Looking to Get Back on Track

Lights basketball has gotten a week and change off from basketball competition following two straight losses in Helena at the Carroll College Classic. Head coach Shawn Huse said what the benefit of having this first long break of the non-conference schedule will do for a team that will be ready to go soon enough.

“It’s good for us right now to have a little bit of a breather,” Huse said. “We’ve already played four conference-like teams (and) have another one coming in (to Havre).”

“We need a little bit of a break to catch our breath and get caught up on our schoolwork a little bit and all the little details,” Huse continued.

MSU-Northern will continue its non-conference schedule with a singleheader later tonight with Dickinson State coming to town. Huse said what he expects from the opponent and how his team can be ready to grind out a win after two straight losses the last time out.

“We expect them to be every bit as tough as who we’ve played so far,” Huse said. “Just another good quality challenge for us.”

“I think we know we have not reached out potential and we got a ways to go there,” Huse continued. “We’re just focusing on growth.”

“At the end of the day, these are good quality preparation games for us moving forward,” Huse said.

The Blue Hawks (1-3) will face the Lights (1-3) in a future conference tilt, which begins next season. Tip-off is following tonight’s women’s game between these two teams and Noah Friedman has the call on KPQX-92.5FM and HiLineToday.com.
