Havre girls’ basketball dominated East Helena on Saturday night, beating them in the home opener by the final of (74-39). New Media Broadcasters caught up with head coach Tommy Brown after the game and he said what he liked the most about his team’s performance on the court.
“It was awesome to see. Those kids couldn’t have had a better response (after the Lockwood game),” Brown said. “I really thought they got after it for the 32 minutes of the game, so I couldn’t have asked for much more from them.”
“All 12 kids that came out played,” Brown continued. “Everybody contributed, so that was really awesome.”
Brown’s Ponies will meet another horse in the Malta M-ettes very soon. Brown shared how the game will feel similar to East Helena because of how little time his team has to prepare to play.
“Short preparation (is) very similar how we didn’t have a whole lot of film on East Helena on a short turnaround,” Brown said. “You just rely on what you’ve already put in (for) practice: principles we’ve taught.”
“(We) place the emphasis on coming out and just playing hard for the 32 minutes,” Brown said. “That’s all we can really ask for right now.”
