(Havre) The Hill County Board of Commissioners welcome a new member, Bill Lanier, for his first business meeting on Thursday, January 2nd.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Lanier after the meeting to ask about his goals heading into his first term as commissioner.
“The biggest thing right now is to learn how things work within the county right now. I have a general idea, but I’d like to get a more thorough understanding of how things work here within the county, especially meeting and working with the different department heads in the different departments and getting to know all the employees that work within Hill County”
Lanier is replacing Mark Peterson, who retired from the position of Hill County Commissioner after 12 years of service following a fire of his previous home, which caused him to move out of an eligible district for re-election.
Lanier is leaving a career with the Havre Job Service to take up his new role but is not a stranger to county government. He credits his previous time with the Blaine County Clerk and Recorders office as previous experience.
